The founder and namesake of Mary Lee’s House, has dedicated over five decades to improving the lives of Florida’s children. After moving to Tampa in 1958, she volunteered through organizations such as the Junior League and The Children’s Home, while raising her four sons. Her deep commitment to helping vulnerable children led her to establish Reach Out Community Services in 1998, which provided mental health counseling for abused children. Realizing the need for more comprehensive services, Mrs. Farrior envisioned a center where children could receive medical, legal, and counseling support under one roof. That vision became a reality in 2008 with the opening of Hillsborough County’s first child protection and advocacy center.
Mary Lee’s son, played a pivotal role as the founding Chairman of the Board and President of Mary Lee’s House. He worked closely with his mother to bring the project to life by coordinating property acquisition, financing, and collaboration with local children’s agencies. Together, they opened Mary Lee’s House in 2008, which now serves over 2,500 children annually. Rex has also been recognized for his commitment to the community, including being honored as a Tampa Bay Community Hero in 2013
